12-1 Focal length is technically, one design parameter of a lens, expressed in millimeters. The name of any particular lens, such as "a 40mm lens".

12-2 One broad group is is the Iris almost fully closed f/16.

12-3 Depth of field is the distance, in front of and behind the plane on which the lens is focused, in which objects in the image sharp. A scene that looks perfectly sharp in wide angle may turn soft when you zoom to telephoto.

12-4Perspective is the illusion of depth in the picture, the apparent distance from the camcorder to the farthest part of the scene.

11-2 - 11-5

11-2: Two ways that the video signal is created are: light passes through the camcorder lens, which organizes it into a coherent image and projects it onto the surface of the chip, and the chip contains hundreds of thousands of microscopic sensors.  Each sensor responds differently to the amount and color of light striking it, so each sensor creates a different electrical signal.

11-3:  Two ways that the video recorder handles interlaced images are: the electrically encoded information about each video field (one-half frame) is sent to a record head spinning on a drum in the recorder, and the record head preserves the signal by selectively magnetizing metallic particles on the videotape that moves across its path.

11-4: The three camera support systems are: tripods, adjusting the head, and stabalizers.  Tripods are the most common camera support, they hav three legs instead of four because a three-point support will not wobble on uneven ground.

11-5: White balance is the overall color cast of the light in which you are shooting.  We had to adjust the white balance so that you could see what was being shot and yes, it did change the view of the image.

11-6 - 11-10
